Sophia Reed is an African American 30 years old, single mother of one. She has a master’s degree in Human Services specializing in marriage, couple, and family therapy/ counseling. She is also a registered with the Virginia Board of Marriage and Family Therapy as resident accumulating hours for licensure as a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT). She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in General Advanced Studies in Human Behavior. Her work experience includes working with the Department of Juvenile Justice, working in the community with juveniles that are at risk for out of home placement due to behavior challenges, adults with serious mental illness, working with military population, and providing Christian counseling to individuals, couples, and families.

 Sophia certifications include:
 Prolonged exposure therapy
Applied Suicide Intervention Training.

Her professional memberships include:
 American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy
 Chi Sigma Iota International Counseling Honor Society,
Positive Parenting Coalition (Chesterfield and Colonial Heights Virginia)

Not only does Sophia have an interest mental health field, but also relationships and families.  Sophia loves to motivate others to be the best that they can, and to help teach them how to unlock their full potential.  Sophia is a Christian, and enjoys meshing her Christian values with her education and experiences.  Although she loves working with everyone, her target audiences is women, families, couples, and teens. The positive thing about her is that she is not coming from a place in which she does not know the struggles that women face.  It does not matter if you are a single mother, minority, out of work, or going through a slew of personal and emotional problems. Sophia feels that through dedication, hard work, and holding on to God that anything is possible.  The main belief that Sophia has is to never give up on your dream and never give up on what God has told you.
